Antique French Porcelain Tea Caddy in Pink Toile Design. This toile style tea box was made near Paris, France in perhaps the mid 1800s. It bears the mark: S X, defining pieces made in Sceaux where famous faience was produced. 18th century pieces were of low quality soft paste porcelain, but by the 19th century, the workmanship became much better. These studios progressed from making ordinary tourist fare to fine majolica. The hinges are copper, and the overall condition is impeccable.
