Rare pendant from Venice, marked 18K. Cameo is carved from volcanic lava, and it shows age and light wear. Pendant is highly engraved in the manner of Venetian masters. Two fine, large, round pearls of about 5/8" diameter flank cameo, and they are nearly blemish free and cream in color. Two smaller pearls, above and below, show a textured nacre which was perhaps the artist's intent. Surrounding the cherubic cameo are eight fine, white full cut diamonds totalling slightly over 1.5 carats. Rolo style chain is about 30" in length. Pendant is 20th century, cameo appears older.
