Fine Bakshaish carpet. The fine carpet fancier knows how difficult rare sizes and soft color palettes are to locate. This one is the perfect rectangle--one to withstand the scrutiny of even the choosiest collectors. It is all wool and in generally good condition with gentle wear one would expect for something so old. As with good handmades, this rug shifts in color tone as you move around the setting. It starts with warm brick colors that soften into creams and blues. The motifs are stylized flowers and leaf patterns, a combination of classic "tribal" geometry with allover floral character seen in "city" type rugs. Kudos to the new custodian of this beautiful find! Approximate Dimensions: 13'11" by 6'7"
